Coffee Conversations: Latest of Breast Cancer Research

January 10 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center hosts a virtual “Coffee Conversation” on select mornings that features a 30-minute interview with a survivor, co-survivor, or medical professional on a topic, followed by a time for conversation with participants.

Wednesday’s December 13th Coffee Conversation features Nathaniel Robinson, PH.D. Nathaniel received his bachelor’s degrees from The Ohio State University and his Ph.D. in Cancer Biology as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at Case Western Reserve University. During his graduate training, his research focused on identifying mechanisms that drive breast cancer cells to grow at distinct times and diverse environments throughout the body, giving rise to recurrent and metastatic disease. This work extended to the development of new therapies for metastatic breast cancer, as well as other cancers, that target these mechanisms. Currently, Nathaniel serves as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

In addition to his research work, Nathaniel is heavily involved in community-based efforts to provide education and support related to both cancer and mental illness. He is motivated in both his scientific and community activities by his personal connections to these conditions (having a loved one living actively with metastatic breast cancer) and seeks to build connections between research and lived experience through education, advocacy, and individual storytelling.

Please join our Coffee Conversation discussing breast cancer research with Dr. Robinson!
