Coffee Conversation: Ask the Expert – Breast Surgery

Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center hosts a virtual “Coffee Conversation” on select mornings at 10:00 am central time that features a 30-minute interview with a survivor, co-survivor, or medical professional on a topic, followed by a time for conversation with participants.
Monday, September 12th’s Coffee Conversation features, Dr. Charles Shumate. Dr. Shumate volunteers with Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center as our Clinical Liaison. He is a retired Breast Cancer Surgeon in Birmingham with over 30 years of experience in the medical field. He graduated from University of Alabama School of Medicine. As Clinical Liaison, Dr. Shumate meets with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other physicians and clinicians to promote the services and resources Forge provides to breast cancer patients, survivors, and co-survivors. During our Coffee Conversation, he will talk about surgery after a breast cancer diagnosis.
