May 11th’s Coffee Conversation features Kelly Klehm, Director of Hope Initiatives at One Place Family Justice Center in Birmingham. She was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in January 2021 at age 39. She has the BRCA 1 gene mutation. She underwent chemotherapy, a double mastectomy without reconstruction, radiation, and a full hysterectomy. Through her year-long cancer journey, Kelly discovered a love of writing, a like of poetry, and tried to be open and honest about her cancer experience.
