Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center hosts a virtual “Coffee Conversation” on select mornings that features a 30-minute interview with a survivor, co-survivor or expert on a topic, followed by a time for conversation with participants.
October 23rd’s Coffee Conversation features Dr. Gabrielle Rocque. Dr. Rocque is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Hematology & Oncology and Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Care at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She is a health services researcher and medical oncologist, clinically specializing in breast cancer. Dr. Rocque completed her medical training at the University of Wisconsin and her masters of public health in outcomes research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Her research interests include improving the quality of healthcare delivery for cancer patients with an emphasis on quality, patient-reported outcomes, provision of supportive care services to patients and payment reform. Dr. Rocque was awarded a National Institute of Health R01 to evaluate implementation of electronic patient reported outcome (ePROs) based remote symptom monitoring in Alabama and is a Co-PI of a large PCORI grant extending ePROs nationally with Dr. Ethan Basch.
She serves as the Medical Director for Quality of the UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center service line. She is a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (FASCO) served on multiple committees including the national committees, including as prior chair of the American Society of Medical Oncology (ASCO) Quality of Care Committee, Quality Care Symposium Planning Committee, Measures Task Force, Breast Cancer Measure and Choosing Wisely Measure Development Panels. She won several awards including recently receiving the American Cancer Society 2022 Trish Greene Quality of Life Award.
