Coffee Conversations: Explaining Breast Cancer to Children
Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center hosts a virtual “Coffee Conversation” on select mornings that features a 30-minute interview with a survivor, co-survivor, or expert on a topic, followed by a time for conversation with participants.
December 10th’s Coffee Conversation will feature Allison Hill, M.A., LPC, NCC. Allison Hill is a licensed professional counselor and National Certified Counselor. Allison received her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling with a certificate in marriage, couples and family counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has experience working with children and adolescents addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavior concerns, trauma and anger management.
Allison has specific clinical interests in anxiety disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder and working with LGBTQ+ youth and their families. She practices an integrative, affirming approach to counseling, incorporating play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems and strength-based approaches. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, making pottery and seeing live music.
